Warren County has started making its own salt brine to treat the roads, saying the liquid mix of salt and water is cheaper and more effective than rock salt. It's also better for the environment. Warren County Public Works Superintendent Kevin Hajos says brine uses less salt, so it's less expensive. He hopes one day to cut his $600,000 annual salt budget in half. Read More >>

New York will host the National Association of County Engineers (NACE) Annual Conference in Buffalo in April 2022. Part of the Host State responsibilities is to create a logo/theme to market the event online, in brochures, on lapel pins and in the conference mobile app.
The Conference Planning Committee is now accepting design submissions from all regular and affiliate members of NYSCHA and their staff! The winning concept will receive a $50 gift card. There are technically no “rules” regarding the logo design, but NACE prefers something colorful and representative of the host city/county. The logo should include the words Erie County and the conference dates: April 25-27, 2022. The design for the 2021 conference can be viewed here.
Design should be submitted in PDF format to tim.hens@co.genesee.ny.us no later than December 23, 2020. The Conference Planning Committee will review them in early January, select a winner and submit it to NACE Staff for their review and concurrence. Final designs should be prepared in TIF or EPS format for highest quality.
