Schumer, Gillibrand Announce Millions in Funding For Roads

Governor Cuomo Announces Completion of $204 Million Project to Rehabilitate a Section of the Bruckner Expressway and Six Connecting Ramps in the Bronx

Nearly 70 percent of the bridges' deck piers were eliminated with the use of innovative technology "link slabs" made of high-performance concrete, significantly reducing rainwater leaking through the deck and protecting the bridge piers. This in turn reduces maintenance costs and will prolong the life of the viaduct.  The project also included replacing bridge decks, repairing concrete piers and steel girders, and replacing all bearings and pedestals.  Barriers, railings, and drainage structures were replaced, and new roadway lane striping was added. New LED lighting was also installed along the expressway, on the ramps, and at intersections. Read More >>

Soy-based Product Being Used on U.S. Roadways

PoreShield, which began being developed in 2008, offers enhanced protection and durability of concrete while also providing an environmentally friendly to treat cracks and crumbles. In addition to the benefits for the concrete, the product has also received strong support from applicators because it reduces cost, requires no personal protective equipment, and is easier to use. Read More >>

USDOT Announced a Strategic Plan for America’s Freight System

According to the USDOT, the U.S. transportation network moves nearly $52 billion worth of freight and energy products, roughly more than 51 million tons, via the country’s highways, railways, ports, and inland waterways, pipelines, and airports. Recently, the increasing use of e-commerce and global supply chains has strained the freight system, the department said. Failure to incorporate innovative technologies and maintain infrastructure could threaten America’s competitiveness, the department said. Read More >>
