Governor Cuomo Announces Beginning of Construction on a $2.5 Million Resiliency Project in Jefferson County

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the start of constructionfor a project awarded a $2.5 million Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative grant in the Village of Sackets Harbor, Jefferson County. The project seeks to address flood water damage to Brown Shore Road, which is especially vulnerable due to its proximity along the eastern end of Lake Ontario. The flooding of 2019 left 12 inches of standing water on the roadway, leaving Brown Shore Road impassable and resulting in a temporary road closure. Read More >>

Contract Changes Keep Genesee County's Phase 2 Water Project Flowing Ahead

Highway Superintendent Tim Hens said this change order, coupled with a previous change to zinc-coated pipe and other related items totaling $190,285, raises the total contract amount to $5,601,485. Hens said that the latest modification is to reinforce the five tangential tees or hydrant assemblies off the 36-inch main on North Road and to prevent any future leaks at the tees due to settlement or car accidents involving hydrants. Read More >>

U.S. Department of Transportation Awards $1B in Infrastructure Grants

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced $1 billion in grants for 70 projects in 44 states Wednesday. The Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants will be directed towards projects that support improving the country’s surface transportation infrastructure. Revised Pandemic Relief Bill Aims to Patch State and Local Budgets

A revised pandemic relief bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives this week continues the chamber’s attempt to shore up cash-strapped state and local government budgets, though to a far lesser extent than the nearly $1 trillion sum contained in a bill passed in May. Read More >>
