A letter from the President

Dear Fellow Superintendents and Commissioners,

We are in some uncertain times to say the least.  Most of have not seen these unprecedented events in our lifetime to date.  That said, I want to thank you for all that you are doing as public servants to assist not only your departments but the people that we serve.  The things that we do both individually and as managers will have a direct impact on minimizing the spread of the current virus that threatens the health and well-being of our communities.  Stay safe and God bless.

Here is a message from ADG:

Dear NYSCHSA Members,

We hope you, your colleagues and families are all well.

The purpose of this email is to inform you NYSCHSA offices remain open and operational, with the majority of staff working remotely.

NYSCHSA headquarters maintains an IT environment that provides online engagement as well as access to documents that support connectivity, remote work, and quick response to change in programming and projects. Phones are also accessed from home.  Messages are retrieved throughout the day.

To protect staff, members and other visitors to the office, headquarters has established new protocols, enhanced cleaning practices, limited travel, restricted return to work upon return from travel, and is closely following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and other local, state and federal authorities.

Staff are in regular communication with Association leaders and is responding to a broad range of member questions.

Extraordinary times like these underscore the importance of collaboration and information sharing; and we are committed to doing whatever we can to support our members.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us at My thanks to our members and staff who are working together to support one another and continue to support the work of our organization.

Thank you,

Todd Gadd, PE, Wyoming County
NYSCHSA President

Dave Hartman Retirement Party Cancellation Update

While I’m very disappointed that I had to cancel the get together, as the saying goes: “every cloud has a silver lining” …..

As a result of the Governor’s staff reduction guidelines, I have cheerfully volunteered to be one of the “non-essentials” next week so I am actually all done this Friday vs. next Friday. Everybody has to go sometime and I think this Friday is a good day to call it a career! My work here is done.

Don Higgins Retirement Party Cancellation Update

Regretfully, disappointingly, it’s time to terminate any further plans/arrangements/commitments for what I anticipated would be a very special event with my family, my friends, my associates, my leaders.

With the uncertainty of the Covid-19 duration/impact/regulations, I want to play it safe for all.

With this advance notice, hopefully all of you can make alternate plans for Memorial Day weekend.  Please don’t forget the purpose and meaning of Memorial Day.

The funds I had planned to spend on food and drink will be split as donations between the four very worthy organizations I had intended in Honor of my Dad.  Each of these groups has a very special meaning to my Dad and me.

If you are so inclined, maybe the couple dollars you would have spent on gas to come to Geneseo, could be donated to one or more of these special organizations.  If so, maybe make a note “In Honor of Wallace Higgins”:

Patriot Guard Riders New York:

National Warplane Museum (Geneseo):

Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight:

Honor Flight Rochester:

If you were planning to share in this special day, MY SINCERE  THANK YOU for your intentions.  THANK YOU for every influence you’ve had on me in one way or another.

Please stay vigilant, stay aware, be prepared, be safe, stay healthy, be a good person, love your family, Honor our Military and 1st Responders, and as my Dad did….do something good for your community.

Peace & Love, Don Higgins
