New York State Comptroller Recommends Comprehensive Planning For Projected Infrastructure Spending

DOT Will Speed Up Efforts to Provide Safe Approaches to the Kosciuszko Bridge For Cyclists and Pedestrians

The city’s Department of Transportation is expediting its plans to create safe and effective connections for bicyclists and pedestrians to the shared-use path on the new second span of the Kosciuszko Bridge between Queens and Brooklyn. DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg detailed the improvements in a letter to City Comptroller Scott Stringer after he criticized the agency for the lack of infrastructure that would protect cyclists and pedestrians on roads leading to the bridge when it opened Aug. 29. Read More >>

Cayuga County Looking For Path Forward for Department of Public Works​​​​​​​

Following the resignation of its director last month, the Cayuga County Legislature met Tuesday to brainstorm a way forward for the Department of Public Works, with multiple officials suggesting the department be broken up once again. The Legislature held a special meeting Tuesday night to essentially examine whether legislators are satisfied with the structure of the DPW, which was formed last October to combine the county's Highway, Buildings and Grounds, Parks and Trails, and Weights and Measures departments under one administrative roof. Read More >>

Two-Hundred Million Dollars Going Towards Infrastructure Improvements​​​​​​​

One of the projects that will be funded with the money is upgrades to Bob Bullock Loop, which means from International all the way to U.S. Highway 59 will be transforming into interstate highway standards because the future of the loop is that it will become Highway 69. Back in, May KGNS spoke with the Texas Department of Public Safety Director of Construction Eduardo De Leon who gave us some insight into the upgrade. Read More >>

County Approves $4.8 Million Contract Program

Work to reconstruct a stretch of Delameter Road west of Castle Rock will begin next week after Cowlitz County commissioners Tuesday approved the $4.8 million contract. C&R Tractor and Landscaping crews will widen and straighten the road from Cline Road to Melton Road, replace culverts and build a concrete retaining wall to support part of the road. Read More >>
