From all of us here at NYSCHSA, we hope you have a wonderful 4th of July holiday!
Thank you for your continued support of our organization and our industry.

As you enjoy all the activities and fun the holiday can bring, we hope you find a moment to reflect on the day’s historical significance and the wealth of opportunity it has provided all who have, and do, call America home.  

Please note Association Headquarters will be closing at 3:00 pm on July 3 and remain closed July 4 and July 5. We will back in the office at 8:00 am on July 8.

Amendment Extends Highway Workers’ Four-Day Workweek, Without Board Approval

Two amendments, one of which extends the time-frame for four-day workweeks, were made to Berne highway workers’ collective bargaining agreement without ratification by the town board. Read More >>

Road and Bridge Construction Suspended in New York State for July 4th

The 4th of July is a busy travel time for drivers and New York State is suspending road and bridge construction to ease traffic. According to the governor's office, lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York State highways will be suspended from 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 4 to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 8. This is to accommodate travelers during the busy Independence Day holiday. Read More >>

6 Erie County Road Projects Receive $1.1 Million in Winter Recovery Funds

Work is now scheduled for six Erie County Roads after the county received $1.1 million in extra funding from the state's Extreme Winter Recovery funds in the state budget, officials announced Friday. Read More >>

Updated Infrastructure Will Lead to Less Traffic Fatalities

This week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimated 36,750 people were killed in traffic crashes last year in the United States which is 12.2% above the all-time low of 32,744 traffic-related deaths in 2014. Total crash deaths never topped 34,000 from 2009 through 2014. So what could be to blame for the increase? Cellphone usage and distracted driving are part of the equation, but experts believe our crumbling infrastructure is partially to blame as well.  Read More >>

Gov. Signs Bill to Disperse BP Oil Spill Money to Infrastructure Projects, Including LA 415 Connector

Governor John Bel Edwards signed a $700 million infrastructure investment bill Friday. The money, which comes from the BP oil spill settlement, will be dispersed among several transportation projects across the state. Read More >>
