State money to fund local bridge & culvert repairs

More than a quarter billion dollars is coming to repair and replace bridges and culverts across New York State. The $262.2 million will fund 165 projects statewide. Read More >>

Climate change sets table for New York counties hit with impacts

County and local governments across New York are girding for the threats posed by extreme weather events and reviewing roads, bridges and public buildings to assess whether they can withstand flooding and damaging winds. In recognition that the impacts of global climate change are already being felt in New York, the state Association of Counties inaugurated a Climate Resiliency Committee this year to serve as an information-sharing resource, said Mark LaVigne, the association's spokesman.

Genesee County, town of Batavia getting BRIDGE NY funds

Four projects in Genesee County have been awarded a combined $3.85 million in BRIDGE NY Program funds for bridge work, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Tuesday. The county is receiving $1.081 million for Sharrick Road over Murder Creek and $907,000 for Tower Hill Road over Spring Creek. $1.082 million will go to Upton Road over Bowen Creek in Batavia and $787,000 will go to Meadville Road over Canal Creek in Alabama.  Read More >>

America’s newly-elected governors have their sights set on fixing roads and bridges in their states. And they may have better luck than President Donald Trump. Whether it’s filling potholes in Wisconsin or expanding internet access into rural Tennessee, both Republican and Democratic candidates campaigned on promises to rebuild infrastructure, showing just how bipartisan the issue has become. Connecticut, Louisiana, Utah decide on use of transportation dollars

Statewide ballots in Connecticut and Louisiana on Tuesday included questions to protect transportation funds from being raided for other purposes. Both measures won support from voters. The Utah ballot included a question about whether road funds should be diverted. Read more >>>
