Cuomo Signs Bill Designating Portion of State Route 19 as "PFC David P. Coveny Memorial Highway"

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo signed legislation (S8954/A 10787-A) designating a portion of State Route 19 between Sayre Road and Fox Road in the towns of Warsaw and Middlebury in Wyoming County to Vietnam veteran Private First Class David Coveny of Wyoming, New York. PFC Coveny, who served in the U.S. Army as a Light Weapons specialist during the Vietnam War, was killed by a land mine in South Vietnam on Sept. 30, 1967. Read More >>

Columbia County Applies For State Bridge Funds

Columbia County applied for state funding to repair three bridges and three culverts, but another bridge project partially funded by the federal government is a month behind schedule. A $702,207 construction project to replace the Fitting Creek Bridge on Route 25 in Stockport, which started June 11, is a month behind schedule, Columbia County Engineering Director Dean Knox said. The road has been closed during construction with traffic detouring to Route 9 to the other end of county Route 25. Read More >>


Cortland County to Fill Vacant Highway Superintendent Position

The chair of the County Legislature, Charles Sudbrink, was approved by the Cortland County Legislature Thursday to fill the vacant position of Highway Superintendent. After turning in his letter of recommendation to the legislature, Sudbrink is set to begin work at the Highway Department on Monday, Oct. 1. The position will last until October 1, 2022. Public Works Plans $500 Million Territory-wide Infrastructure Improvements

The Virgin Islands Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced plans for a territory-wide infrastructure improvement program aimed at roadways, drainage, utilities, signage, lighting and traffic management controls. Various federal government sources will be funding these improvements at a cost estimated at $500 million, which will be completed over the next 5-10 years. Read More >>
